How much food does my horse need?

As a rough guide, the (dry) weight of total food for a day will be 25% of body weight. If your horse is too thin he'll need more, if he's too fat he'll need less.

Pony 12hh - 13'3hh
-Will eat approx 16 1/2 lbs of feed a day. How you divide that amount is up to you.
-This horse will go through one (1) bale of hay in approx five(5) days. If you feed grains as well than this horse will get approx seven(7) days out of one bale of hay.

Horse 14hh - 15'1hh
-Will eat approx 20 1/2 lbs of feed a day. How you divide that amount is up to you.
-This horse will go through one (1) bale of hay in approx three (3). If you feed grains as well than this horse will get approx five(5) days out of one bale of hay.

Horse 15'2hh - 16'1hh
-Will eat approx 26 lbs of feed a day. How you divide that amount is up to you.
-This horse will go through one (1) bale of hay in approx two and a half (2 1/2) days. If you feed grains as well than this horse will get approx three(3) days out of one bale of hay.

Horse 16'2hh+
-Will eat approx 33 lbs of feed a day. How you divide that amount is up to you.
-This horse will go through one (1) bale of hay in approx one and a half(1 1/2) days. If you feed grains as well than this horse will get approx two(2) days out of one bale of hay.

Please note that one bag of grain lasts for approx 1- 2 weeks depending on the amount you feed and the type of grain your using. Be reasonable when you feed as it is easy to over feed.
